The Headteacher, Brian Hazell is local secretary of
NAHT and has a good understanding of the need to have the right person for the
job.
Teachers already had non-contact time prior to it
becoming statutory. We are told that there are four teachers employed to cover
non-contact time.
There are of course the usual problems of workload and
meeting times as is the case with all other schools, but the relationship with
the union and the school management has tended to overcome all the worst of the
problems. Whatever his faults, he is a head who listens and does genuinely
negotiate.
NUT recognises the commitment of the school to
teachers, pupils and parents. If it is your intention to apply for a permanent
post where there is a large NUT membership and a supportive Head, Lambeth
Teachers Association has no hesitation in supporting your decision. |
