We need to stress that these policies have been
negotiated, but have been imposed by both statutory legislation and the
council. We have attempted to make them as teacher friendly as possible, but
have not always succeeded.
If you do need to refer to them,
please consult us first as there has been some fine tuning since these were
issued, but we have not waited for the final versions before offering them to
our members for advice.
However, do not make the assumption that your governing
body is following Lambeth's guidelines. Be aware of any variation.
Whatever you do - golden rule Number 1 - do not get
involved with any stage of the procedure on your own without your union rep or
a nominated friend.
The procedures laid down by the authority are available
in any school office. As we are aware that governing bodies do not rush to let
teachers know their rights and entitlements, or indeed even the rules governing
their activity, we have attached them to this section. |
