Long Service Awards

Gold watch

Traditionally, going back to the ILEA days, teachers completing 25 years service, even if there was a break, received an award of £250 or cash equivalent.

Lambeth still make the award, although it was their wish to reduce this to £100. (This may have been successfully negotiated to return to £250).

If you are approaching 25 years with ILEA / Lambeth - or have already done your stint - approach the school secreatry for the appropriate form.

Alternatively, phone Jucinta Gasson-Mulcahy at International House on 020 7926 9740
or eMail her at: JGasson-Mulcahy@lambeth.gov.uk

You've earnt it!

You don't have to apply immediately. In fact, in our experience, this little known award is often not claimed by those serving teachers entitled to this payment. There is no time limit, except that you cannot get it before you have 25 years service. Service prior to April 1990 counts providing it was in the ILEA - even if much of the time was in another borough.

If you served outside of the former ILEA for part of the time, the time served outside does not count, but the accumulated parts do.

Human Resources will provide you with the appropriate form, if the school doesn't have one. In order to get you're payment on time, it is advisable to apply a term early.
