Its not just the Secondary Schools who have found themselves
worse for wear after the cleansing operation following the visit of the Schools
Improvement & Development Division (Sidd Team).
The Lambeth Association meeting recently was informed by
colleagues from one Primary School, who up till then had felt they were getting
along very nicely.
That was until SIDD arrived and got to work.
We were informed as to how everyone felt rubbished and
management personnel at the school are threatened with a restructure which
seems inappropriate and unwanted.
The unions have questioned the hostile, unsupportive way by
which SIDD operates. It would appear that we've been down this road before and
work has to be done to stop this ridiculous outfit demoralising even more
Lambeth teachers. |
House of Commons Select Committee report on the Annual
Report of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector
Commenting on the House of Commons Select Committee report,
Doug McAvoy, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, said: I
welcome the hard hitting report. No future government can ignore the Committees
conclusion that inspection causes extreme stress.
The Select Committee has had the courage to call for
fundamental change in school inspection starting with the early years. Their
proposal that inspection should change from the current climate of extreme
stress in schools to one of support must apply to all schools.
It is clear that the extreme stress described by the
Committee has lead to the problems of recruitment and retention rightly
identified by Mike Tomlinson. I welcome also the emphasis by the Committee on
making Ofsted accountable to Parliament.
I call on all parliamentary parties during this Election to
commit themselves to the fundamental changes to school inspection called for by
the Committee. |
As if we needed more observations ......
..... Ofsted are sending a team into Lambeth again in the
Autumn. The object is vague - looking at partnerships, EAZ's, not going
into schools for inspections visits.
However, we know that neither Ofsted nor HMI's come to
Lambeth and leave without some restructure, closure or re-organisation
happening .....
We'll keep you posted |
